Last I read (which was quite a while back now) the sequel show to Blakes 7 had been, thankfully, cancelled. The success of the resurrected Doctor Who and spin-offs may well mean they look at it again ... I hope not though since Docotor Who is about the only one that has really worked (and even that took a season or so to settle down), with all the other "updated" shows being barely recognisable and "in name only". :(

I know this is a bit OT but I think Blakes 7 could be done really well. IF the new SW TV is meant to be deadwood in space blakes 7 could be treated the same way: brought up to date in terms of production value and re-examine the themes that made the show brilliant (in an 80's sort of way!)

This is from the latest issue of TV Guide (8-14 May) ...
Jay's Star Wars dream
Star Wars actor Jay Laga'aia hopes one day there will be a live action TV series based on the iconic science fiction movies. "I know it's still definitely in the pipeline," says the Australian-based Kiwi actor. Jay gained international fame playing Captain Typho in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. "George (Lucas) wanted to make sure the first season's scripts were written before they went into production and that is still very much the case," he says. Jay is currently appearing in Home And Away.
I'm not sure he would actually know any more than we do and may simply be quoting what he's heard before. It's unlikely his Captain Typho character will be in the new show.

Not sure how many of you have seen this, but it looks like the show is unofficially on hold for now :(

George was on "Attack of the Show" in the US recently, and said that LFL has 50 hours of footage recorded for the live action TV show, but is still working out economic issues before the show goes back into production.

Check his comments from about the 3m30s point of this video:

For George to save some moola he should use less CGI troopers and more real life ones.

There easy. :p

CGI Troopers are probaby cheaper - you create one model and then "copy-paste" it everywhere, rather than actors wanting over-bloated wages for doing two minutes work per day. ;)

Of course that doesn't take into account the untapped fanboy market who would do it all for free :)

Boo CGI troopers! Yay live troopers!

Oh man I hope they go ahead with this show. I reckon Auckland would be a great place to base it. We are cheap, hard working and some of us are huge star wars geeks :)
