Sounds like the live action Star Wars television series won't manifest until late 2011 or 2012. Still looking forward to the idea though. Not much truly new information has hit the media since the early revelations - we've heard Boba Fett's name thrown around the rumour mill a bit, but I was interested to read the possibility that the series "...will star minor characters, including Boba Fett, C-3PO, and the Emperor Palpatine" (sffmedia.com...new-star-wars-tv-show-tainted-by-memories-of-jar-jar.html).
What does everybody want to see (or not want to see)? What do we think we will actually end up seeing?

Re: Live Action Star Wars Television Series
Well I'm obviously a huge Fett fan (see user pic at screen left), so that poster shown at the '07 New york Toy Fair (http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/ga ... 102922.jpg) really got me interested (even if the proposed release date was exceptionally ambitious).
Since then McCallum has confirmed the rumours in Star Wars Insider #99 (http://www.theforce.net/swtv/story/Boba ... 111515.asp), so that pretty much takes care of #1 on my list of things I'd love to see in the live action Star Wars series.
As for the rest: I like the talk of it being a much 'darker' and 'grittier' affair than the prequels and Clone Wars material. I have nothing against these latest additions to the Saga, but I must admit that the more intimate and down-to-earth nature of the original trilogy will always appeal more to me.
Personally I'm a huge fan of the prematurely cancelled Firefly series, and it'd be fantastic to see the Star Wars franchise taken in a direction similar to this.

We just re-watched that end-to-end...amazing what a universe they made on a very modest budget. Helped that it was solidly character-driven. StarWarsTV could definitely learn from it.Archon Revuge wrote:...Personally I'm a huge fan of the prematurely cancelled Firefly series, and it'd be fantastic to see the Star Wars franchise taken in a direction similar to this.

When I spoke to my LFL contacts about it last, they were planning for it to be filmed out of Sydney, so that's excellent news for antipodean film crew and actors. I think we can expect a good kiwi quotient to be represented, given the proximity.
Yeah, Firefly would be a fabulous template upon which to base the series. The apparent underworld setting of the new show gives me hope we might get what we want - that's always the side of the SW universe that I have found the most interesting: smugglers, crimelords, bounty hunters, seedy cantinas and hutt dens etc. They just need to hire some really sharp writers. I'm optimistic anyways!

I hope it's less like Firefly†, more like The Sopranos and Deadwood; as George and Rick said a few years back... sure, I can't see that happening, but you never know.Archon Revuge wrote:Personally I'm a huge fan of the prematurely cancelled Firefly series, and it'd be fantastic to see the Star Wars franchise taken in a direction similar to this.
†I know I'm the minority here, but I can't stand Joss Whedon's creations. Sassy dialogue? No, thanks. And there's only one cowboy in space: his name is Han Solo.

Deadwood in space would be amazing except maybe without the gall stone or whatever it was the bar owner had!
Sydney would be brilliant for NZ as you say Reverend there'd be a good bit of kiwi crew trying to get on that one.
What's the latest on start dates? screening 2012? I really hope they keep pushing the used future look ; get back to costumes, props and models more than cg. The new Battlestar Galactica did that well I reckon (ok the cylons looked a bit computery)
cheers

The latest I've read is here.oota goota wrote:...

Lucasfilm wrote:"They are working with writers on scripts," a Lucasfilm representative said in response to a query. "They won’t set a production date [for Season 1] until the scripts are done."
Lucasfilm wrote:"They met with people in several countries (including Australia) early on but they are not currently casting. They are not going to start casting until the scripts are completed"

Re: Live Action Star Wars Television Series
Thanks Matt for the heads up. It's such an awesome time in the SW timeline; I'd really like to see the formation of the rebellion, that kind of stuff.
That deleted scene in ROTS where the senators are trying to get something going was really good; gave the viewer the first glimpse of the rebellion.
Maybe a SW version of Blakes 7????? (also rumoured to be remade)
