My wife, a big SW fan just saw one of these on a reality show she was watching and given my passion for diy and modelling I thought it would be fun to knock one together. Little did I know the dead ends I would stumble across in trying to source one. Since googling for the past week it would appear the resin kit that forms the figure generally appears to be sold from USA via EBAY and most of them won't ship to NZ. An even smaller number of boutique individuals seem to cast a few then put the moulds back in storage for a year or two before doing another small batch. They appear to be rarer than hens teeth. There also seems to be whole level of variability regarding the detail and construction quality of the kits. The one person that does ship to NZ wants about $700 for the kit on its own which appears mad? Add postage and customs and I'm looking at over $1100 just for a lightweight resin cast. Am I missing something here or is that the going rate? I have only found MattG on here who appears to have made his own ? Can you remember where you sourced the stuff from Matt ?
Just keen to hear from anyone with leads or tips as to best and cheapest ( not necessarily cheap ! ) method to obtain a good resin kit for mounting?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Han Solo in Carbonite Project
I assume you saw my build thread over here?
I bought a Han cast that was just the specific "Han" pieces (as can be seen in the pic here). It was shipped cut in to pieces, so required assembly on to a board. I paid US$200 for the cast, and shipping + currency conversion ended up bringing the total to about NZ$320. The guy who does them advertises runs on an intermittent basis on the international 501st forums. I can try and look up his contact address.

Re: Han Solo in Carbonite Project
Thanks Matt. Saw that thread which led me to the forums etc. I've found a couple of guys who seem to do this through forums and not ebay. Similar to yours they cast them and cut them for shipping. Anything you can find re contact address etc would be great but don't sweat :0
Cheers again

Re: Han Solo in Carbonite Project
I've got a Han face mold that Matt sold me a couple of years back. I'll probably not get around to doing the Han in Carbonite like I intended (like many of my projects and dreams
), so happy to sell it on to you. Matt can probably tell you more about it's lineage than I can, and I'll just have to figure out what I bought it for it what it's worth.
PS Am busy with the Armageddons at moment, so forgive me if I don't get back to you straight away.

It was definitely a direct cast off an accurate source...ie, it's as good as any of the versions out there.reelcollectibles wrote:...Matt can probably tell you more about it's lineage than I can, and I'll just have to figure out what I bought it for it what it's worth...
