Latest Finds - DVDs

Post by Buzz Bumble »

The new Lego Star Wars The Empires Strikes Out DVDs were released on Wednesday.

The Warehouse has it stickered at $19.99, BUT their latest junk mail catalogue has the DVD priced at $17.00.

MightyApe has it priced at $19.99.

I haven't had time to check at JB Hi-Fi yet (that's Friday's task).

I haven't seen a Blu-ray version mentioned anywhere, and I didn't see the double-DVD pack (with The Padawan Menace) at The Warehouse either..

According to today's junk emails, the NZ webstore TheNile.co.nz is trying to sell Lego Star Wars The Empire Strikes Out DVD for a whopping $28.99! I hope that's a typo, otherwise they won't be selling many copies.

JB Hi-Fi has the Lego Star Wars The Empire Strikes Out DVD priced at $18.98 ... so I got my copy from The Warehouse instead. :) I couldn't find it at Whitcoulls, and there's still no sign of any Blu-ray version. I also didn't see the double-pack with The Padawan Menace.

JB Hi-Fi does have The Clone Wars movie 2-disc DVD on sale at $9.98.

The Lego Star Wars Empire Strikes Out DVD isn't due for release in America until 26 March, but they do get a version which includes a mini figure Darth Vader with medal ... Imageing Image Image exclusives shouldn't be allowed!

There's nothing worse than making a purchase only to find a bigger/better/exclusive version elsewhere Buzz :(

You probably don't want the double-up, but I'd be more than happy to pick one up for you if you really want to get the exclusive. It's only $9.99US (about $11.95NZ). I can bring it back with me when I return to NZ in a few weeks :)

(P.S. This offer extends to everyone else too!)

Thanks for the offer, but I'm not collecting the minfigs anyway (partly because of all the silly "exclusives"), it would also be US-region coded / format. I do have a couple of minfigs that came with Dorling Kindersley books - they become a nuisance since you can't give / sell them to anyone else collecting them without leaving a silly minifig shaped empty hole in your book.

I absolutely detest the greedy silliness of "exclusives" and random-packed items. Then there's the companies that bring in Series 1, but don't bother with Series 2 (e.g. the Star Wars Beanz and Fighter Pods, although limited numbers of some of the Fighter Pods did show up in Countdown.) It makes it so difficult for collectors to get a set without having to deal with the scalpers on eBay and similar. :(

The latest junk mail catalogue from JB Hi-Fi is advertising the various "season volume" DVDs for The Clone Wars animated series priced at 2 for $20 or $14.98 each ... of course, it's still probably cheaper to buy the complete season box sets, but you miss out on the extra cover artwork. :(

Sorry for the dual postings, but I've just spotted another release in the JB Hi-fi catalogue - The Clone Wars, the Complete Season 5 DVD set priced at $44. Again, no mention of a Blu-ray version.
