Apologies to those who have already pre-orded, but here's The Warehouse prices from today's junk mail catalogue:
  • Saga six movie set, $109.99
  • Prequel Trilogy set, $64.95
  • Original Trilogy set, $64.95
Unless someone has made a typo, those are great prices. Expect JB Hi-Fi to drop their prices to match (people who pre-orded from their might want to check for a price match).

I know where I'll be going on Wednesday morning. :)

It's things like this that really makes you wonder about greed of the morons in "big business" management and the way they all try to purposely con and gough customers. Prices on most things could very easily be 20% less, if not more (hence all the so-called "sales" with 20% off TVs, etc.). I know the financial times are (supposedl) hard at the moment, but even at the new price they will still be making a profit, so that's the price (at most) it should have been to start with. :(

And then they have the sheer cheek to moan and groan in blind amazement when people buy via overseas webstores at more sensible prices.

To be fair, businesses need to make money to make profit to keep investors happy, its a fact of business. Its the suppliers that set the cost and rrp of products relevant to the market so they are the ones that need to lower the prices.I can tell you now NO-ONE is making money off selling the Complete Saga at $109 and is losing money to stay competitive. Thats a win for consumers, not for retailers.

Dang, I paid $140 or thereabouts. Oh well. It's here now in my hot little hands so I am happy and it's too late to complain now anyhow.

I'll be checking it out tonight, but initial impressions are that the artwork included in the set is phenomenally craptacular. There's so much great SW art out there I am stunned they used such bad art in the set.

Such a great price. The Warehouse Downtown had 4 copies left at 11.30am and the woman remarked "we didn't get very many allocated across the country" ... the words of doom.... Here's hoping there's enough to go around.

Popped the OT archive disc into the Blu Ray player at work here at lunch time for a quick look and oh man, I am loving this stuff. The picture and sound are so gorgeous, but what I love is that the bonus materials are presented so beautifully instead of the tacked on feeling galleries and turnarounds tend to have in many DVD extras. These have interactivity with luscious HD turnarounds, video commentaries that are really nicely cut together and concept art that I've never seen before. That last one is a biggies for me. I collect the art books so I have much of what's been published. I was really hoping for new material and from the tiny peek I got at lunchtime it looks like this release delivers. :D

Weve had it running in the office on a PS3 and plasma Samsung all day and I must say, the OT films look amazing! The level of detail is really, really nice and I just know there will be some hardcore prop enthusiasts going over it with a fine tooth comb. Colours are rich and vibrant but I have noticed some digital "fudging" to blend together certain digital elements.

Only looked at the the spoofs portion of the special features, it is a bit lackluster as all the spoofs are one long track with no menu to navigate them, but with so much yet to explore,I know what Ill be doing for the foreseeable future :)

Go out and get it at $109 while you still can!
