LED and Fiber Optic kits for Custom Builds

Post by Edward26 »

Hi am after LED and Fiber Optic kits for my Vehicles.
Can anyone point me to the right direction where I may buy these?

I have a Tydirium Imperial Shuttle that could use some touching up.
Also a 31" X-Wing, that will be perfect for a custom build.

It is possible to make your own electronic voice box? Like those Electronic versions release in the 80s.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

I know you can get the odd "Kit" for models from over seas, but they are expensive and specific to a model scale and brand.

JayCar is probably the best local place to get your LED's, Resistors etc for lighting models. They do the standard and high bright LEDs of different colors - 3mm & 5mm etc. Work out what power supply you need from the LED's you want and then work our your resistor size so you don't blow them.

Fiber Optics - you may be able to get locally from a light shop. You need to be careful when gluing and cutting that stuff - a lot of time and effort can go to waste in an instant if you make a mistake.

I have a 1/32 Viper I am going to do at some stage but I'm going to back light the cockpit behind colored plastic instead of Fiber

I light up a 1/32nd BSG Cylon Raider just with LEDs

Good luck with your Project!!!!

Wow that Raider looks cool, can you post some pics with the rest of the wing attached when you get a chance? I'm going to do the same thing to my big Rebels X-wing but with reddy pink leds for the engines...
Anchorhead Autos Ltd, you break them - we fix them. Finest speeder repairs this side of the Outer Rim...

One site that I use quite a bit for LEDs is http://www.tomtop.com
They even sometimes have the fiber optic lamps that could be used for smaller kit builds.
There was a company that I used in Carson city Nevada for my model police cars, this one has a working light bar with 19 flash patterns, wig wag head lights, quarter deck lights with 7 leds that flash between red & blue the size of an old 5c piece.
