FineMolds Millennium Flacon 1/72 - Set the Scene for me!!

Post by Snibo1 »

Say no more had to have it.....

Fine Molds have released for the last time (according to Mighty Ape NZ) their 1/72 Falcon...... Mine is on the way. :rotfl:

I am a big fan of doing dioramas with my models (where I can) as it puts the subject in an environment which brings out the best in it.

So what I am asking is............what is the Diorama (Scene) I should do once the model is built??? (this will take a while as I am going to light it up). I do have an older MPC Kit which I am going to build and have it clamped to a Star Destroyer Conning Tower section (waiting to float away with the rest of the garbage) so I have that covered!

My thoughts for the Dio is:

Mos Eisley Hanger (ANH)
Death Star Hanger Bay (ANH)
Death Star Surface (ANH) - just skimming the top of the surface, brushing past a Turbo Laser Turret
Hoth Rebel Base (ESB)
Bespin Landing Platform (ESB)

Sorry but the inside of a Space Slug in an Asteroid with Mynocks in ESB just dosent do it for me Dio wise!!!

Let me know what you think!!!!!!!

Cheers

Steve

I'd vote for Mos Eisley or Hoth Rebel Base (the latter would be my favourite, just based on personal preference rather than anything objective)...I think those sorts of display give you more scope for the messy, "lived-in", set pieces and props that typify the Star Wars aesthetic.

FineMolds Millennium Flacon 1/72
You'll need to buy two - the corrected version as well that typo'ed "error" version. ;)

What about the:
  • Stuck on the back of the Star Destroyer
  • Zooming through the insides of the Death Star II
  • Landed on Endor for the final celebration, surrounded by Ewoks
  • EU scene where the Falcon crashes into a North American forest, killing Han and having Chewie be the start of the Bigfoot legend ... likely to be rather unique :)
  • There's also another EU story where the Falcon goes underwater.

What are the chances of having a tiny Chewie welding on one of the mandibles?

Chances are high!!! Included is Chewie but in a sitting position only. I should be able to modify him to the required position. That being the case I would probably add a fiber optic at the welding tip and run a high frequency flashing LED at intervals to simulate the arc flash.

Not really.

An enclosed box and a fan is all you need ... might make it difficult to see what's inside the box though, and the sand / sand-substitute would likely wear on the items inside.

OR, perhaps strings of a very fine netting with a sprinkling of sand / sand-subsitute. :)

Man you guys are hard task masters!!!!

I could do a build up of pigments to simulate the dust build up from the storm, but suspending dust in mid air is a bit of a task...not saying I'm not up to the challange at all!

Am going with the Hoth scene!....it wasn't snowing inside the Rebel Base
