Warning about German Palitoy and some 65 Back ROTJ Palitoy

Post by Captainsolo1978 »

Hi everyone

I don't know if you are all aware about the recent discovery in the UK of what appears to be a dealer who was creating his own stock of "vintage" carded figures using mint figures and unused Palitoy cardbacks.

The full discussion is on the UK Star Wars Collectors Forum. www.starwarsforum.co.uk

Essentially it appears this guy may have now used original bubbles at first but his greed led him to using repro bubbles which are thicker than Palitoy ones.

The affected cards appear to be German 45 back Palitoys and some Palitoy 65 back ROTJ.

This has obviously led to panic selling on ebay by dubious characters. The two main problem ones are ROTJ Light Tri Logo Fetts on ROTJ Palitoy and 65 back Palitoy Hoth Stormtroopers.

Just be careful when buying.

I unfortunately own 4 of these suspect cards.

I've been following the discussion on this situation too...very unfortunate.

How easy was it to spot the affected figures amongst your collection?

I bought them from the dealer in question.

Put it this way- the Palitoy collecting community is pretty angry!

Sorry didn't answer your question. The dealer is Toytoni. The WAN figures are German with German on the back. They are 45 backs and look mint. The ROTJ cards are some 45 and 65 backs. Again they look mint. The bubbles appear thicker.

He also used an iron to seal figures in his early efforts. Since then he must have got access to a heat sealing machine.

He has remained silent on the issue, although his website is still running. Fake Britain in the UK did a feature on it. It's on YouTube.

Do you have any pics of these? We don't want any dodgy foreign guys selling these to some unsuspecting Kiwis. It was bad enough with that laughable prototype 12'' figure that the Aussie guy tried to rip us Kiwis off with, but these sound way worse and harder to detect!
Anchorhead Autos Ltd, you break them - we fix them. Finest speeder repairs this side of the Outer Rim...

Ill post some over the next few days. You can see them in the photos I posted on some of my collection.

Basically they are minty mint and like new with sturdy clear bubbles. These cards and bubbles are belived to be Palitoy over stocks. The UK SW forum uncovered the deception when it was revealed Toytoni bought the Palitoy surplus cards and bubbles. His eBay account was then buying mint figures.

Look at the Palitoy Esb Han Solo and Han Bespin in my photos, as well as the Jedi Luke Farmboy.

I've been put off buying Palitoy and Clipper cards now.
