That's so cool. Looks like the old Kenner Imperial Troop Transporter vehicle is getting resurrected for this too. I love how the Star Wars universe always finds a way to recycle old/discarded concepts.

Ditto, and this is a cool inclusion that's been around a few times (it appeared in the old Marvel comics, and a variant showed up in Dark Horse comics too).Archon Revuge wrote:...I love how the Star Wars universe always finds a way to recycle old/discarded concepts...

I've got one of those Kenner vehicles, although I don't think the sounds work any more. My grandmother sent it over from England along with some of the Mini Rig vehicles when I was little - I wondered where they were meant to fit in (since they weren't in the movie), but now some of them do fit in.

You'll be pleased/interested to know that they are using Joe Johnston concept designs as well as McQuarrie's stuff:Harvey Mushman wrote:A very nice touch!

It's difficult to tell from those photos, but the models look like they might be more detailed than those in The Clone Wars series.

They'd be stupid not to do so!MattG wrote:You'll be pleased/interested to know that they are using Joe Johnston concept designs as well as McQuarrie's stuff:Harvey Mushman wrote:A very nice touch!
A whole lot of Joe's designs popped up in THE CLONE WARS, too. More often than not, both the Rev and I would pick then up faster than most, given our love for the two design masters of the OT...

Fun times nerding back and forth over e-mails about them after each new show.
I spoke to Dave Filoni about it once and he said that was always something they tried to do at any opportunity, sometimes telegraphed, sometimes not. They enjoyed seeing people spot the classic design call outs and react.
