I have got originals of all three Star Wars arcade game conversions for the Amiga (Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi which doesn't use vector graphics), but no Amiga to play them on any more. I've also got the black-and-white Mac version of Star Wars on a floppy disk, but my floppy drive no longer works (probably just needs re-aligning) and the game doesn't work under the new versions of Mac OS anyway. For some reason though I always found the Commodore 64 version of the Star Wars game we used to have much easier than any others.

That makes no difference - you're still breaking copyright laws, and with the new "three strikes law" people download ROMs can potentially get fined and have their internet account closed (although currently they're still going mainly after those people uploading / sharing the ROMs).
In addition, because the ROMs are illegal, they are often hosted on dubious websites (including the idiot Domcom's new pirate paradise) and can easily be an avenue for virus and malware infections for Windows PC users, and much more rarely Mac users.
People have the right to FULLY know what they're getting into ... what any individual person does once they have all the information is then entirely their own decision and their own fault if they get into any trouble.

Somehow I don't think they'd come after you for downloading a game that's over 30 years old and no longer makes any profit what so ever. I think they would be more interested in going after people who download current movies and music etc.
But hey, that's cool mate. I respect your views, I for one champion legal game use with Steam and Origin downloads. It keeps the industry thriving
