1/6th scale parts casting

Post by oota goota »

so a mate of mine at work has asked to me to ummm 'clone' a few bits and pieces for him to do some customising on some of his 1/6th scale figures.

first up is a hasbro mandalorian helmet. I forgot to take a pic until halfway thru the mold but basically I've glued a bunch of exhausts and a pour hole onto the bottom of the helmet so that the top of the mold will have spaces for pouring resin and letting out air bubbles. I'll cast a few up for my mate until he is sick to death of them :) After that he wants a jet pack but I have the feeling that this is only the beginning :ohwell:

I'll post pics of the finished result if it turns out good or if it turns out crap this will be the last time I'll mention it :)

Very nice work, great detail.
Doomsday and Armageddon got together and had a baby and man is it ugly.

ha ha oh man I think I might have a brain haemorrage (sp?) if I take on another project :). I've finished the mold of the tk helmet though will try and get some casting done this week so I can work on the forms

Yeah I was very surprised with the castings as there was no noticeable shrinking. Usually with a mold then a cast off a master you expect a bit of shrinkage in both the silicone and resin but not this time. The exception that proves the rule?

Rekon it would be cool if you did a casting of my Rubies Supreme Darth Vader helmet. It's supposed to have been cast from the Don Post Deluxe ESB helmet with a few warping and differences. Rekon a few adjustments and you could get this thing looking close to the real thing ;-)

yeah I've heard good things about the rubies helmet. Given that it's now not avaliable I guess it would be fine to mold. Sooooo I would need to mold, cast a master, modify the master and remold and then cast a new helmet?
