Sideshow's 'Mythos' Statues

Sideshow recently announced a new line of statues which look pretty interesting. The "Mythos" line seems to portray established canon characters at points in time just outside the boundaries of the actual movies. The pic below is Obi-Wan, "Desert Nomad", just after episode III. It looks like there are Darth Maul and Boba Fett interpretations in the works too.

Very, very cool. Is that Obi-Wan's Clone Wars armour on the top of his pack?

You can see his armour shoulder logo in this shot.

The sculptor has done an amazing job of interpolating Ewan McGregor and Alec Guiness' features.

Obi-Wan is superb. I'd love to see Hasbro adopt this sort of thing into their line, so long as they can do so with a similar aesthetic and not fall into the trap of making their extrapolated designs too toyetic, like they have sometimes done in the past when dabbling in this territory. I think it's within the realms of being possible too, given they will be needing to find fresh ways of keeping characters like Obi-wan, Anakin, Vader etc in their assortments for years to come.

I love the Obi-Wan statue :) Reminds me of the older Potj figures of cold weather Obi-Wan, training gear Qui-Gon and sith apprentice Darth Maul figures, depicting outfits/situations not seen in the films. Would love the see a coloured/painted version of that statue. Not so interested in the others in this line - sometimes it feels like the imperial/sith characters get more attention than the jedi.

Sideshow have just posted up the Darth Maul mythos statue for preorder - US$249.99, and at 18 inches high, makes it a great alternative to the more expensive premium format statues (usually between US$300-$350) but still a good sized display piece. Comes with two different right hands (hand open or holding staff) and two facial expressions. For me this one is not that different to other Darth Maul statues, I find the Kotobukiya 'shirtless' version to be more 'expanded universe'.
