I finally managed to get hold of a copy of Heart of an Empire from Mighty Ape. The movie's been out since 2007, but it was the first time I'd seen it available in NZ.

I thought it was great seeing the origins of the 501st and all of the fantastic work they've been doing over the years. Do any of you have thoughts on the film? Perhaps those of you from the NZ garrison?

We picked up a copy when JB HiFi had it in stock a little while back (the international distribution has been a bit weird...for a long time there, perhaps even still, it wasn't released in the US, and the Americans were hunting down copies through Aus distributors).

Yes, it is a good documentary - the background behind Albin's creation of the club is very interesting, and some of the more significant charity troops are very heartwarming.

I found mine on Trademe a couple of weeks back.

Yes a good doco. Sad at times but uplifting to say the least.

That's the same guy I bought my DVD from.

Albin's tale is sad, but a good motivational story.

Its recently been re-released by EMI/Shock in NZ and is a good watch, a little depressing but a great insight into the 501st. In terms of entertainment I think Star Warriors is better, especially seeing 200 Stormtroopers make the "big corner" :)
