US trip, want anything?

Post by Reverend Strone »

I'm heading to San Diego Comic Con next week to represent my work and do some PR stuff. I plan on doing some shopping while Statesides as well, so if anyone has wishlists they'd like me to take along in case I see any goodies, by all means please feel free to PM them to me.

I will be a little limited in terms of how much I can bring back in my luggage, but so long as it's no too big or heavy I suspect I will be able to fit some extra items in my bag on the trip home. Please be sure to let me know whether you want loose or boxed/carded items to and in what condition as well. Obviously mint carded stuff is difficult because it requires extra packing and space in order to preserve its condition and is much harder to guarantee, so if you're an opener, please let me know as it will save a lot of space if I can uncard/box and items and stuff them between my shirts and socks. Assuming the requests aren't too expensive, we can settle up when I'm back. :)

With respect to convention exclusives, I must put the disclaimer out right now that because I am working at the show, I will not be able to queue for exclusives at other booths. I'll certainly use every contact I have to try and secure some if there are any that folks crave, but I can't guarantee I'll be able to land everything that's asked for.

It can't hurt to ask though, so flick me a PM if there's anything you're after and what your threshold on price is. :)

I leave on Monday the 18th and will have a very full weekend preparing so the cut off for requests will have to be this Friday night, July 15th. I'm back on August the 1st and will check in with my successes then.

Are you at liberty to say what your business is?

Hope you have a great time :) I had a check of the timetable and it looks choc full of fun things to do/see plus the exhibitors... sigh....

Photos and exciting stories I think are going to be enough to make me sufficiently envious and wish that I was going this year ;)

Thank you Michaela. :) I suspect I'll only get to take in a fraction of what I'd like to (probably will have to pass on all the panels due to long lines), but it's always a great spectacle to just be at and enjoy the vibe.

Oh sure. Sorry. I work for Weta. We have a booth there every year, promoting our most recent collectibles, memorabilia, replicas, books and other new business ventures. It's great fun, though it's been a good five or six years since I was last there. It was crazy busy then, but I hear it's even more so now.

MEAN...Did you work on the Warthog and post some pics on the TFNZ forums?

I went to SDCC in 2008 and LOVED IT...admittedly I spent most of the time in lines for exclusives, missing out on panels and generally falling in love with the mistress that is the shop floor BUT awesome :) I remember seeing everyone loving the Weta stuff and feeling really proud :)

Cheers

That's really cool, and thank you. :D

But I can't take any credit for the 'Hog. I was there when it was being built, but my role was as a big dumb grinning admirer who would stop by the machine floor every few days to see how it was coming. The guys did an amazing job on it.
