Re: (Re-)making a toy display room
Fantastic, As somebody starting out trying to put a display or two together do you have any tips for hanging or for your (looks like) custom build shelves? ^_^
I had thought of using 3m(sp) mark hooks from the celiing with fish wire to hang, but i'm not very confident thus i haven't begun. ^_^

Re: (Re-)making a toy display room
Thanks.
The ceiling hooks I used are all installed with fairly heavy duty anchors, rated to carry weights that give at least a 4:1 safety ratio. The heavy-duty fishing line I used has a similar margin of safety. Each ship is also strung to multiple hooks, just in case. It all should last fairly well.
We've used a fully modular shelving system, with full length vertical mounting strips (eg, these), so that we can adjust any shelves if we need to reorganise or fit more levels in. Elfa is the deluxe brand of the system of shelving, but Mitre 10 and Bunnings also carry a cheaper Australasian brand called "Top Shelf".

Great room lay out Matt, also gave me some ideas for a room I'm current working on in my garage.

Thanks. We definitely found the modular system a great way to go. Look forward to seeing pics of your set-up when you've made progress on it too
