Yeah, that's very cool. Did you commission someone directly and pay on a per-time basis?

Re: NZ BB-8 Builders?
No, fortunately I found these on the Jakku junkyard the three panels were $40.00usd and the rest brought the total up to about $85.00 plus postage.
All up it was $124.00nzd for this lot.
I have the top of the dome saved for me with the skirt as a completed piece for about $50.00usd on hold with the same member as well.
I have also ordered my name badge for the club for any future events that come up and possibly the BB 8 builders will help me get table runners etc for displays for hopefully any events in future.

Re: NZ BB-8 Builders?
I was thinking of using this one as a basis for doing a fiberglass dome.
I have all the measurements and details that could be copied via a polystyrene ball and clay then cast a new one from that.
Roughly the same size ball is about $10.00 from Pete's emporium in porirua wouldn't take long to make.
That being said, what would the ruling be on casting direct from 3d printed parts, is that considered recasting?

Re: NZ BB-8 Builders?
seems like a great price for what you get.
As for the fibreglass thing I guess if you get permission to mold and cast them it shouldn't be a problem. If the piece you have is the right curve inside and out I'd be tempted to make a 2 part mold and cast them as another option, that way you get an even piece that you can copy and paste

Re: NZ BB-8 Builders?
I've asked the question, just waiting on the reply.
I want to try the new mix that I have been working on, its as light as plastic but as hard as stone.
Might work for those whose domes might come off occasionally.

So far with my mix I have cast half a bottle and dropped onto concrete from a height of 6ft with no damage whatsoever, hopefully there is some promise with this for me.

I have been looking at the various builds from the builders club and seen the various drive systems and building platforms.
The first build I want to start with will be a static display unit with remote head, similar to Mike Sennas build from tested.
