Nice work there batmanreturns, love the detail and amount of hours that would have been put into that.
Doomsday and Armageddon got together and had a baby and man is it ugly.

Finishing off my Mini Tie Pilot Bust. The helmet I got from Badges and the rest is scratch-built.

here is the waist/groin bit with the thighs and knee-high boots. still work to be done, but on the home stretch now.
constructed from foam yoga mats. also,i have no idea why the pic is being displayed wonky, but yeh, nah.
this build is my 'doom' homage. not accurate at all, just a bit of fun.
cheers.

Crikey, that's foam? Brilliant effect!
What's your technique for sealing it? I am very tempted to give this a go and I've made a few bits and pieces, but been defeated by the sealing process.

Re: What's on your workbench?
thanks blaxmyth !
i dont use any sealer at all.
its just cheap as chips yoga matting i picked up at k-mart for 10 bucks for four sheets. [cheaper than mitre ten]
the colors a gawdy green and a hideous pale blue for the mats.
i uysually just paint the surface with cheap 2 dollar shop acrylic artist paint [in squeezy tubes] and then dust it off with a can of cheap matt black.
i use whatever is lying around, and havent ever had a bad reaction between coats.
i suppose if you wanted a shiny finish,i would bung a can of shiny clear spray paint on it.
i have found that the key to making this kind of stuff up is super simple.........
i cut out pieces of the suit, and if i need to shape them,i bung them in the oven [the entire piece] and heat it till its rubbery.
then i get the piece, and wrap it around whatever i have on hand that will give me the shape i want.
when the foam is hot,its super easy to shape. when it cools down,it remains in the new form.
blardy mint i reckon.
also,i used a dremel kit i bought cheap from mitre ten,to round off edges, and add various effects to each piece.
its a cinch to do,and adds to the overall effect really nicely.
if you are keen to give it a go,dont let anything stop you,its super easy to knock out a few bits at a time
cheers !

Thanks so much for that. I might just go shopping this morning - Mitre10, though, no KMart in Whanganui.
And I love the gumboots! Better than Red Bands any day!
