Shadows of the Empire
I'm not a fan of the EU.
In fact, I can't stand it.
But I guess I'm a hypocrite, as I always loved Shadows of the Empire… anyone else a fan?
In the last two decades, I've found that I'm one of very few to like it.

Book, comic, or game?
I never got around to playing the game much, but certainly enjoyed the book and comics.

EU is hit and miss for me; early Zahn books, dark empire comic, SW battlefrontHarvey Mushman wrote:I'm not a fan of the EU.

Re: SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE
Shadows came out around the same time I was first introduced to Star Wars, so I have a lot of fond memories of it. It's always been my favourite piece of EU material after Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy. Loved the novel and comics, and couldn't get enough of the N64 game - especially the Battle of Hoth!Harvey Mushman wrote:I'm not a fan of the EU.

I think of it all as one big story, since each different format told a different piece of it, which was clever. Although, I loved the game most of all, I guess… just so, so cool!
I couldn't even do the Zahn stuff; for me, it just didn't feel like Star Wars, which I feel justified in saying (since the EU has been relegated to a deep, dark part of the galaxy).oota goota wrote:EU is hit and miss for me; early Zahn books, dark empire comic, SW battlefront
But I digress…

Re: SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE
All this talk makes me want to do some comic reading. In fact, I think that is what I will do this weekend.
The SotE comics had some very cool cover art (first series anyway). Having just dug them out, I'd forgotten that the interior penciling was done by Kilian Plunkett - character designer for The Clone Wars and currently art director for Rebels (I also really liked his work back in the old Dark Horse comics Aliens series).
