My 2 cents;

Han Solo: Admiral adama kind of dude with the offspring doing all the risky stuff he used to do. Sins of the father etc etc. THIS HAPPENS :)

Luke: Definitely the obi wan character its the logical progression

Leia: Mon mothma meets President Roslin meets Al Swearangen :blink:

Looks like the new movie has a writer and they plan to give the big name directors the first option.

Star Wars Episode VII may have found its writer

From the link:
Sources also tell Vulture that the studio's brass want to bring back the three central characters of the original Star Wars: a much older Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo. No deals are in place with any of the original actors, though our source did say it had high ambitions to sign up Mark Hamill, and EW recently reported that Harrison Ford was open to the idea of returning. We're told that Arndt's 40-something page treatment will soon be crossing the desks of top directors, including Brad Bird, Steven Spielberg (the former producing partner of Lucasfilm co-chair Kathleen Kennedy), and J.J. Abrams. Whether they'd be interested is unknown (Star Wars is a lot of baggage for an established director), but Disney wants to make sure they've at least tried the biggest names.
Nnnnnooooooo!!! ... almost anyone is better than the hopeless J.J. Abrams. That lazy, talentless fool simply rubber-stamps his name on other people's work. :(

I'm going to have to disagree with you there Buzz. Granted, his resume is somewhat hit-and-miss, but Lost remains one of the most enjoyable and affecting TV series I've seen. I'd also guess that his handling of the Star Trek reboot will be another consideration in his favour.

Obviously, you haven't watched The Sopranos, Band of Brothers, Deadwood or Mad Men... just sayin'.

I've similar praise for those too (particularly Band of Brothers) :)

Lost started out as a good idea (although the continual flashbacks were exceedingly annoying), but soon became probably the most confused mess most people have ever had the misfortune to try to watch (most people gave up at about season 2 or 3). They were obviously make it all up as they went along, while claiming they had an actual story. They also claimed the solution to wasn't going to be science fiction, and yet there ended up with time travel. :rolleyes:
I'd also guess that his handling of the Star Trek reboot will be another consideration in his favour.
Another silly "reboot" that (along with the silly Enterprise tv series) simply made a complete mess of the entire franchise. :(

But the problem is that Abrams doesn't actually do anything. All he does is act as a figurehead and rubber stamp his currently Hollyweird-fad name onto someone else's work and ideas. Just look at the list of things he's supposedly "working" on at any time ... there's far too many for him to be possibly be doing anything useful on any of them. At best he's an "advisor", and we already have the best Star Wars advisor there is: George Lucas.

I'm not fan of his work, but your posts are way off target...
