I'm always impressed by people turning Pepakura files into actual helmets, and will be following this thread

Thanks. It's a lot of work but quite at the same time the enjoyment and skills you learn from doing it fantastic.Armante wrote:I'm always impressed by people turning Pepakura files into actual helmets, and will be following this thread
Little verbal update.
Did some more work on the helmet today, basically more sanding on the visor and it's support area. Also started defining the dome ridge more clearly which is starting to look fantastic.

Arvo all. Been doing some more work on the helmet over night and today. I went and purchased some kned it (epoxy putty) from mitre 10 to build the dome ridge line up better. The rear section I've been working on the my Dremel and a sanding bit. It's looking a lot more defined.

Re: Pep - ARF clone trooper helmet build
Finally got the ridge line sorted to a near final state! Will eventually give it a better sand and sort out the tiny imperfections but for now I'm happy with it.

Thanks badges.
Little update, decided to buy a mouse sander today and gave it a whizz on the sides of the helmet. Boy that's just sped up how quick I can smooth it out on flat surfaces. It's made creating the nice clear edge between the visor and it's ring really easy to do.
Also noticed I need to remove more from the left rear of the helmet as it's to fat on that area. More than likely that is going to be a hand sanding mission due to the shape of the dome.

Re: Slyclone's various builds thread
Renamed the thread. I'm about to get back into doing more on my Oota Goota Bucket and are waiting to hear back from a couple of people about getting a Shoretrooper helmet as well.
Side question, does anyone on here have a 3D printer at all? Wouldn't mind commissioning a couple of things starwars related and looking for a cheaper option than going through a commercial 3D printing business.

For printing, you could check out 3dhubs.com
It lists printers around the world, including NZ.
I've had a guy in Mt Wellington print me a set of power cylinders for an E-11 Blaster

Ooh, sounds like a nicely growing collection. Those shoretroopers are a pretty cool design.SlyClone wrote:...I'm about to get back into doing more on my Oota Goota Bucket and are waiting to hear back from a couple of people about getting a Shoretrooper helmet as well.

I was really tempted to get a Shoretrooper off the RPF. Absolutely my favourite design of the new ones for Rogue OneMattG wrote:Ooh, sound like a nicely growing collection.
