Nothin' wrong with any ethnicity, gender, or speaking accent in the Star Wars universe.

It's a diverse galaxy, in world, and behind the scenes. Embrace it.

I know.
It's just...
For me, the Scottish accent is so entrenched with Scotland.
The country.
On Earth.
So, that sort of broke the 4th wall for me.
ha ha that's funny Kylo! I mean it's a bummer that it pulls you out of the experience. I guess I found the same thing with the young boba's very obviously kiwi accent in AOTC

ok so I've gone through the unbridled joy stage at a new SW film that is awesome. I've gone (am going) through the nit picky critique phase wondering why it was so busy blah blah. I've transitioned into acceptance realising you can nitpick ANY of the SW films if really want to and I'm just letting it be what it is and rejoicing that it was a beautiful film
Now I'm in the anxiety about the next film stage

OK so I have a concern that the following will happen in the next film and make this trilogy more reboot than sequel (which I really hope doesn't happen):
Luke trains Rey and becomes a Ben Kenobi-like character
Rey is trained and becomes a young luke-like character
It's revealed Kylo was originally trained by a post ROTJ luke (like Ben did with vader)
Kylo is wounded heavily in ep7 and becomes a darth vader like character
in Ep8 Old luke (Ben) confronts Kylo (Vader) on....I dunno a space station or something.
Kylo (Vader) kills old luke (ben) saying something about being the apprentice and now the master or something
It's now up to Rey (young luke) to confront Kylo (Vader) and complete her training and bring balance to the force
If that's the rough direction I mean haven't we seen that in the OT? Please please someone reassure me this wont be the direction I want to see the new not a rehash of the old. I don't mind that this film heavily references ANH to set up the films but I hope the referencing back stops there

This is forgotten all too frequently, IMHO.

I am still not going to discuss it for a couple more weeks, but I did want to mention the little X-wing pilot doll that Rey has in her hut.... curious.

It's gotta be related to the pilot helmet she keeps with her.

There was a shot before that, too, which I am trying to decipher.

Yeah, loved the touch with the doll.
By the way... something was glaringly lacking in TFA.
Jedi ghosts!
Obi Wan could come and go at will, even sit down on a rock(!).
Why doesn't Ghost Anakin pop up and tell Kylo to get his act together. "Listen, kid..."

saw it this morning and just thought wow
yes there are little bits that you can pick holes at but over all thought it was a great addition to the movies
cant wait to see it again, and just watch it without thinking about what is coming next
I loved was all the references back to the old movies, loved that connection
felt it was strange that phasma didn't have much of a role, considering the hype around the character

Yeah I'm not sure about that 'at will' assumption. although it's never stated there did appear to be restrictions around what could and couldn't be done "I cannot interfere" and all that stuff. In ep 7 even Han points out to Finn that the force has limits in the way it works/ can be used.
On another note I've been reading and listening to a few reviews and critiques about the film. A lot of folk seem to forget there's going to be 2 other films and what may not make sense now might make sense within the context of the triplet. Just my 2c
