I hope you have a time machine then ... according to the free diary from the local chemist, the schools' term 1 starts today (30 January, although it's Auckland Anniversary Day, so is a holiday up here). :)

Nah, the term starts for many primary schools the day after Waitangi Day.

Is that the Skywalker Sound building I think I recognise in the first pic?
Yes, we spent a lot of time at the Tech/Sound facilities. :)

Have just got in from the LFL Presidio complex, where we had a full tour, and saw The Phantom Menace in 3D :)

Do you think it's worth seeing it in 3D? Or is it just a gimmick that doesn't really work?

Yeah, what's your take on TPM in 3D Matt?
Sounds like an unbelievably cool trip!

I'm just writing up a bit of a review of the 3D version of TPM, and will have it on SWNZ shortly. In short, I felt it was very well done. The effectiveness does vary from shot to shot, depending on a number of variables. They paid a lot of attention to faces and close-ups...as GL said, the for the upconversion to be a success, it needs to be treated as an artistic process, not a technical process.

Here are a few photos from the weekend, including from the LFL/ILM building:

If anyone's interested in seeing it, Juliet's junior jedi journalist report from Skywalker Ranch will be on TV3 News tomorrow (Friday) night.
