I keep seeing starkiller and Malgus marked as "Rare" but they damn well know they have been re-released in the new black series and are just trying to sell off the vintage while they can.
Yeah, that's a perennial problem, and one of my pet peeves.

Yeah i feel exactly the same, the i've only brought a figure "to sell" once, which was after i brought a starkiller for $40, i brought two at $20 each, and resold the third one to make back the costs of the one i brought. (minus fee's)
But i think every collector should be able to get one of every figure they want, and a second one if they find it later once everyone has had a chance to look for them, any more than two of rare figures seems very cruel to others, something hasbro just doesn't seem to understand.

If they did they'd be making more money putting an end to the second hand market on ebay by re-releasing stuff in smaller number via their website with world wide shipping.. lets hope the re-run of the rare vintage collection figures (and hopefully the republic trooper too!) will signal hasbro re-issuing figures from the up coming waves when they are sought after.

However it'd also be great if they'd poll the community to see which of the harder to judge figures need more/less numbers in cases (example less leia 6 inch bikini would've been good, or them having clothes on her that were removable, sandstorm outfit?)

As for the older stuff its troubling as time goes on other companies are more likely to try their hand at making something similar or somebody in his garage will make a custom (as seen) and try to sell it off as the real thing, But with kenner gone and only some limited information on prototypes on scattered websites...

That'd be a neat thing for Hasbro to support, free case of figures to people who build the biggest vintage Wikipedia catalog of items and such to show their support for the continuity.

But those are just the ramblings of a crazy person...

Yeah but it's the truth! As for the old school fake, I wonder if everyone overseas realizes he's an Aussie and not a Kiwi? Big difference...

Serendipitously encountered this on FB - someone intentionally, just for fun, dressing a vintage Luke up in the Hasbro Collection Series x-wing gear. Looks, as suspected, almost identical to the TradeMe auction in question.

shame it cant be brought to attention in his auction since comments are disabled lol
but looks like it wont sell.
Out of interest how much if a vintage luke (naked) and x-wing gear from the 1994-5-6 release? lol
about $50? more or less?
It might become a decent deal if you are just looking for the figure.
Though i wouldn't bet good money on it being a real vintage as it could be anything you can't see much of the body.

Ha yeah that's the TM one in a nutshell, while the guy on FB just did it for something to do, the Aussie guy is clearly trying to rip Kiwi's off by trying to sell his 'mock up'. Be laughed off eBay before it had been on for a day, guess that's why he put on here in little old NZ...

I would say $50 would be right on the money so to speak. The Aussie would have been better off just listing the 'mock up' as that and not as some valuable bullsh*t prototype. If it's the same guy he also sold a rare rocket firing vintage Boba Fett that 'somehow' got damaged during shipping and blamed NZ's postal service. Looking at his bad feedback via Bidbud he has a lot of issues with things getting damaged during shipping. Funny that...

I have heard someone pointed out to the seller the Rebelscum forum's comments about his fake prototype and apparently in retaliation he put some rude comments on the auction (which tm have since removed) along the lines of "surely one of you kiwi hill billies are gullible enough to buy this from me" and last night he mocked how he sells rubbish to "Stupid, Dumb and Gulliable" Kiwis.

Hey at least we can spell. Oh well if anyone had any doubts about the seller they have just been extinguished. By the time I reported the comments, multiple complaints had already been logged and they were removed asap which was great. Trademe's finally doing something about the 'problem'. We just don't need that rubbish in NZ, stick to Aussie mate.

Wow, true colours revealed. Good that TM acted accordingly.

too bad trade me wont just kick him off the site, though i guess he'd just make another account quickly enough.
