...What is interesting is there's no mention of Ian McDiarmid unless JJ has something sneaky hidden up his sleeve.

Didn't his character die in Episode VI I don't mind the occasional cameo, ghost visitation etc, but I'd personally prefer if the principle villain wasn't just a reincarnation of Palpatine.

Thats true, would be nice to see some new Sith on the scene other than Sidious and Vader. I just hope that rumour of bringing him back isn't true.

Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm have announced the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII! Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.

In my opinion, he's not a core cast member (and I'm a huge Lando fan), so it's not a huge deal... save him for a sequel.

Which is exactly why adding another Trilogy to the finished Saga is rather silly and will likely ruin it as a full story. A new "principle villain" means it's a new story, even if it does have some of the same characters. To chase the money-grubbing greed wagon, all they need to do was make the spin-off movies and leave the Saga as it was.
