Hi Tere, welcome to our forums.

Very jealous of this, and that Finemolds Falcon is enviable also.

A topic on Modelmaking in the Toys & Collectibles section might bring in a few ideas and opinions. I'd be interested in seeing what you've got from Sovereign Replicas and Model Realms. :)

Thanks for the welcome,
MattG, I will take a look at the link...
... yes it was a very cool exhibit, I had such a great time I almost missed our gig

This the 1/48 Millennium Falcon from Model Realms

The main saucer

Mandibles, Docking Rings, Laser Turrets, Cockpit Elbow

Radar Dish, Sidewalls, Access Pit Inserts and so on

Engine flaps and Landing Gear Skirts

Cockpit, Landing Gear and Mandible Sidewalls

I have been reading board discussions about the Falcons Mandibles, that they toe-in slightly, so I may attempt that on this build when I eventually get around to it.

There's a lot that I would like to fix on this kit, like replace most if not all the piping and add missing detail as I have done with the Finemolds kit.

Haven't taken any photos of the Sovereign Replicas Clone Wars Y-wing yet but i will.

PitYak, thanks, I will welcome any shading and rust streaking techniques once I start weathering my Falcon.

Thanks guys

Shading can be done quite effectively by a technique called washing which is basically black or dark grey enamel heavily thinned (think 10% paint to 90% turps)
The turps evaporates leaving the black to build up in recesses, great for panel lines etc.
Pastels make awesome rust streaks and rub a pencil across the required surface for a metal effect. i use these techniques on Tanks.
Hope that helps :)

That's a nice kit, but your metal piping and additional detailing are awesome. I fully respect that level of attention to detail!

Hey everyone.

My name is Arien and I love Star wars and collecting all things star wars.
I am a 3d animator and got into it all because of my love for Star Wars.
Currently I am working at air new zealand at the engineering base. I know its not 3d but love it because all the hangars remind me of yavin and the hoth base.

At the moment im trying to complete the 30th anniversary toy with coin collection. After that I would love to collect the vintage collection

Hi my name is marc, I have been coming to the SWNZ site for a few years on and off but I think
this could be my first post other than placing a for sale or two.
Anyway i think it was 1978 when I first saw SW at the movies(I was 4)
but I already had a few figures mum bought back from Oz for my brother and I.
So let me tell you, the tears were flowing at the movies when both Greedo and walrusman
met their Unfortunate ends(they along with Hammerhead were my faves)
But i got over it and between me and my brother built up quite a collection over the years.
Although there were a lot of casualties along the way, what with figures getting blown up
with fireworks or drowning in the bath or puddle(not good for the limbs)
So anyway years later I started collecting the vintage figures again and managed to complete
my collection of loose vintage figures including Yak face and Blue Snaggletooth.
If only I had been abit more careful with them as a kid would of saved a ****load of money.
I also have a few 12" vintage dolls? is that the right word?some Kotobukiya models and the
awesome Medicom Darth Vader, thanks for reading....

Welcome Marc! Nice to have you on board.
I'm in the process of trying to collect up a set of loose Vintage figures. It'd be cool if you could post some pics of yours for inspiration :)
