V.cool. Those TIE Fighter trajectories, and camera angles on the fly-bys, look very familiarBuzz Bumble wrote:A new clip has been released ...

I love the mechanical sounds of the turret turning and the cannons firing. It only seems minor, but it really ups the authenticity.
Oh - and this video definitely puts Chopper in the lead for my favourite character from this show!

Apparently that's the first in a series of "shorts" being shown on the American Disney XD channel every Monday night for the next four weeks (including this clip, so three more to go).

A little too familiar, sadly... I'm liking what I'm seeing, and I still hope for some homages to the OT but not a shot-for-shot remake, you know?MattG wrote:V.cool. Those TIE Fighter trajectories, and camera angles on the fly-bys, look very familiar

From ComingSoon.net ...
Last week, Lucasfilm and Disney XD released a new clip from the upcoming "Star Wars Rebels" which focused on the Mandalorian warrior character, Sabine. Now, an extended version of that clip has made its way online and can be viewed on YouTube.

My kids are going to lose their minds over this. They have already pegged Sabine as their favourite character.
I hear you on the shot for shot thing Harv. I'm willing to look past it at this point because I think we're seeing the emphasis of the marketing push for both Ep VII and Rebels at work here, being to hit us over the head with how the new media is intended to align more with the SW we grew up with than the prequel era. I'm guessing and hoping that the shows proper will have more of their own distinct identity, but at least it appears they have their feet firmly grounded in OT goodness. I may have mentioned this before (apologies if so), but my buddy from New York made it into the screening of the first episodes that was presented at Comic Con this year. He's a cynical guy and would be the first to cry foul of anything that was a literal rip, but came out praising the show for how fun it was. Based on the little I have seen and his recommendation, I have high hopes!

Some people who have seen that have been complaining that it's aimed young kids ... younger than the previous animated shows.

Re: 'Star Wars Rebels' animated series
Yeah, I could see that could be so from the clips that we have seen. I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with that. It all depends on your expectations I suppose. Can't be a bad thing if we rope in the next gen. of fans. I could imagine them potentially starting young and then aging the show as its fan base grows, much like the Potter films and books did. As much as I enjoyed the Clone Wars, they were all over the place in terms of target age group, with kiddyish episodes smack up against gritty stuff that I wouldn't want my kids seeing for a few years yet. I think the same could be said of the prequels.

Looks like the series will be premiering (in the US) on October 3rd, with a 1-hour (double-episode) installment: http://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars- ... ey-channel
