Less than 5 weeks.

It'll be interesting to see how many, and exact locations of, midnight openings we get. I guess there will be a few of us crossing paths at some of these events. It'll be fun to compare notes once it's over. :)

I'm not the type to rush out to these kinds of things, or movie openings (or game releases) at late night but take pictures so my type can live through you guys :P
I'm sure i'm not the only one who wont go, but i know i wouldn't mind seeing what i'm missing. (though spoiler tag pictures in-case some don't want to be spoiled i don't mind myself)

You know what, even I'm excited 'bout this, despite the fact I won't buy a single figure!

With a bit of luck, early waves of figures will be of characters we've already seen in trailers etc. They definitely intend to hold some characters back, as they potentially will involve spoiler-ish information. I agree that there might be some images that contain high-level spoiler information, such as character backstories or details printed on packaging... but, once these figures hit retail in September though, they are going to be all over the internet on an ongoing basis. Anyone who want to avoid spoilers at the level of not knowing about products on the shelves of their local department store is going to have to go in to hibernation. On that basis, this thread as a whole probably comes with an implied Minor/Mild Potential Spoiler warning :)

As a side note, LFL has signed off on Hasbro's release schedule, so released action figures, for example, do not fall under SWNZ's official spoiler policy (wherein we refrain from discussing leaked material, rumours, or speculation), and as such may appear on the main news site etc.

That is great news! Thanks for looking into the Matt and for the excellent answer.

Now, it will be interesting to see what we get, who gets it and how much it will be. With the kiwi $ having fallen so low against the US, I am anxious about how much we are going to have to pay for these goodies. The line reset could be the ideal opportunity for retailers to nudge their pricing up. Here's hoping they don't!

There is that risk. Personally, I don't anticipate purchasing everything on the first day - just enough to whet my appetite, before seeing where bargains and best pricing are over the following weeks.

Either way, it's going to be interesting to see a whole lot more of this packaging taking up retail space...

Yep, that's my plan too. Wave 1 stuff is almost always plentiful and retailers always order heavy for the preChristmas period, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find what we want in the weeks between Sept 4th and the New Year. Of course, every now and again there are exceptions, like the Rebels launch wave, so it may pay to keep an eye on how quickly certain figures are selling to avoid a Chopper drought situation. ;)

Is it wrong to have already pre-ordered a case of figures at my local toyworld?
I must admit the last 2 years I haven't really bothered with collecting figures until TFA Merchandise came out. And to top it off I have still yet to buy a single 6" black series figure.....I've herd they are worth it and maybe next month is the month I will get one :-)
