Cheers; glad you like.
Following on from the Palitoy ANH adverts, here are their ESB spreads.
How about this..."Win a day at the filming of the new Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" !!!
And more mail-away offers...
On the topic of ESB, here's another funky hand-drawn one, from Kenner...

Here are a couple of miscellaneous product ads from Marvel comics.
Iron-on transfers, book bags, posters etc... And some of the original licensed masks...

Re: Vintage Star Wars Toy Advertising
Found a slightly better version of the Palitoy Boba Fett offer, and cleaned it up a little. Still would love to get access to a hi-res version.
And there's this related advert to go with it...

These two are a double-page spread from a Sears Catalogue/promotion. It includes a number of action figure "sets". One is particularly interesting...for US$28.99, you could get a set of 16 figures that includes both a regular red Snaggletooth, and the now very sought after blue Snaggletooth.

I can't, unfortunately, credit many of the images in this thread, as I've been collecting them to my hard drive over a decade or so, without recording sources along the way. Some are personal scans, some from Flickr, a few from the vintage Rebelscum forums (or links therein), and some come from The Star Wars Collector's Archive (http://www.TSWCA.com). Most I have cleaned up at some point.
Some of the foreign language ones are quite cool too.
Here's a Meccano (French) version advertising the Mini-Rigs...

Awesome thread Matt. Were those prices in the first post from New Zealand or abroad? I've often been curious to find out what the vintage lines retailed for in NZ.

Re: Vintage Star Wars Toy Advertising
The very first post (with "Other World" figures) are NZ prices circa 1983. I've got all my old action figure backing cards, some of which still have price stickers...in the ESB-era, they retailed for $4.45-4.99, and ROTJ-era $5.50-5.69 (based on the examples I have on hand).Archon Revuge wrote:Awesome thread Matt. Re: Vintage Star Wars Toy Advertising
Speaking of foreign adverts, here's a quick comparison of a Palitoy (UK) and Meccano (France) versions of the same Return of the Jedi action figure adverts. Notice the R2 art...he has a reasonably accurate body, but the stylised action figure dome with the big round main eye.
This one is another UK mailaway offer, for 'Empire' display stands.

Re: Vintage Star Wars Toy Advertising
The shared theme for the next three is "dioramas". Loosely speaking!
This one is from Meccano (France). The diorama mixes 3.75" scale figures with the diecast range. Greedo and Walrusman have joined the Empire, Hammerhead is wandering around the snow in a one-piece swimsuit, and a Gonk droid looks a little lost. This one, I believe, is from a Sears catalog again, featuring ROTJ product. And ROTJ figures and playsets from Lili Ledy (Mexico).
