Thanks everyone It's a bit of a busy month so sorry for not replying sooner

Well if anyone is free this Sunday and might be happening past the Farmer's Santa Parade route I'll be near the front-ish

The talk went well Well it was a bit of a misfire in terms of getting people knowing about it but I got to speak to two young fans- one of whom recognised Shae XD and the other got to have a bit of a test drive of bevelling plastic and russet and do a bit of painting Proof of concept though- I like to teach skills that carry and evolve so this was great

Tomorrow is the day for ironing all that silver to the cape, 6m of net and all those flakes. Cunning plans to get the workroom fully operational didn't happen but it will have to be enough as the desk converted to a soft top for ironing really is the only way to tackle it!

Working on my set of fibreglass arm and shoulder armour. The shoulder bells are larger than standard, with the idea that I'll trim them to a suitable length, but still have them long enough to keep them outside the bicep tube. Really bugs me when the shoulder bells tuck themselves behind the bicep.

The bicep and forearm plates will be polyester resined and then lined with glass cloth. I'll cut out the rectangles last of all and epoxy a backing plate in. Just seems less work than pepping them in from the start. Hopefully the top and bottom halves will fit snugly, probably with a pivoting loose rivet at the elbow, with a magnet at the wrist. Although I'll probably back it up with a small white cable tie.

The bicep piece should be OK as a one-piece unit. I have made it longer to suit my preference. I know it's not standard, but it's just for local troops. New calf plates awaiting fibreglassing as well.

Hopefully as time goes past I'll make the suit more accurate. In the meantime I'm calling it a gravel trooper - bigger and rougher than sand troopers. The mannequin is about six foot four inches tall and it has a fairly imposing presence in the room.

Last of all, under the workbench are the various fibreglassed plates for the rest of the suit. Hopefully it might be ready for the next planned troop in February. Hopefully...

I had a very nice surprise on Friday, a very good friend of mine gave me a black series storm trooper helmet, very impressed with the detail but I think I have a sound system to update down the track.
But that's ok, this is my very first stormy helmet
