In the not too distant future, the SWNZ website and SWNZ forums will be moving over to a new hosting service. This will result in notably improved stability and reliability (I've got sites spread across 4 hosts at the moment, for a variety of reasons, but the one currently housing SWNZ sites is no longer among those I'd recommend or prefer to use). I'll also use it as an opportunity to upgrade software and implement a bit of future-proofing, as well as restructuring the underlying architecture to better integrate social media pages and groups such as our recent FB Discussion group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/SWNZdiscussion ). Expect a facelift of sorts too.

There will be a little bit of downtime so that exported databases don't become out of synch before fully imported, but the intention is to port over all posts, users, etc. I'll make sure warning about that goes out in advance.

I will be taking a test cut of the database for migration over the next 24 hours. At some point, once the database is transferred and configured, I'll be locking these forums and directing them over to the new site. These forums will remain visible after the transfer, but new posts won't be able to be made.

Nice work Matt, as others have said, I'll be in a similar situation too, don't understand most of it but it's an improvement.

I've soft-launched (no public announcement on FB or anything, and no global redirect from the old URL yet) the new website at www.SWNZ.co.nz for anyone keen to check it out. Recent content only has been transferred over so far, and a few more tweaks are imminent before I go for a formal launch.

A test cut from these forms also worked reasonably well, as you can hopefully see if you are looking here. Attachments haven't been transferred over yet (as there are over 4GB to transfer), and the visuals are obviously temporary, but everyone's logins should work with existing passwords, and you can start posting there now. It's locked against new registrations for now, while I finalise everything, but existing regular members can start using it
