I don't know if there will actually be any Star Wars models, but there's a model expo in Auckland over Queen's Birthday Weekend ...

The article in yesterday's Weekend Herald (Weekend Life magazine section) does say there will be a life-size Dalek and K-9 from Doctor Who, as well as model trains, Meccano, radio controlled cars, doll houses, etc.

We called past to check it out. Not too much Star Wars representation, but a fun event.

It is very cool to see hobbyists and clubs displaying the products of their pastimes. Their were hobbyists of all ages in attendance, which was nice to see too.

I've got a few more photos I'll upload shortly.

I love seeing the great detailing of Star Wars models. Before Hasbro finally got their act together with more accurate looking vehicles, I used to make a few back in the day.

Mind you, I don't miss getting my fingers stuck together and getting paint on everything but the model :p

There was some amazing skill to be seen amongst the models exhibited.

Here are a few more of my pics, hopefully not getting too repetitive (full album on Flickr).

Some good old-fashioned toys too...tons of Meccano.

Hi,

I found this site while trying to get some info on my next build and I found one of my earlier builds - the Snow Speeder. It is a scratch build scaled up from the orignal MPC Kit. The display (or 1/2 of it) was from the Waikato Scale Model Club whcih I am a member. We will be back next year and I will bring mode SW models. In the mean time here is my current (nearly finished) X-Wing on Yavin - about 6 months BBY, again scalde up from the MPC Kit. I have done more to it - but may need to add photos etc to a new thread. I do alot of out of the box builds but have been geting into 1 off scratch build.
Am starting work on the Tydirium now so will bring that up as well next year - may not be finished but will be a work in progress.

Been a Fanboy since 1977!!! - Have a Man Caveand a SW Stash to Prove it (also the odd Tattoo)!
