SDCC 2014

Post by MattG »

San Diego Comic Con rolls around this weekend...it's usually an exciting event in terms of news and previews. Although the last couple of years have been pretty lightweight in terms of new details about Star Wars products, I think there are good reasons to expect big things this year.

I've started this thread is thread as a place to discuss and link to news and photos from that event. Although Toys & Collectibles are likely to be headline items, I've put it in the 'Conventions' section, as there is a good chance we'll get coverage pertaining to a mix of topics, including Rebels, books, etc.

This looks like a full-sized version of the Mattel Hot Wheels Vader car, to be on display at SDCC:

NZHerald reports that the life-sized version has an interior based on the inside of Vader's helmet: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/ar ... 34&ref=rss

Y'all can now find a guide to the Star Wars-themed events at SDCC here. (Dates and times have been converted to New Zealand local time.)

A very useful schedule; especially the converted NZT start times.

Galactic Hunter's FB page has quite a few pre-show photos. Lots of life-size Rebels maquettes to promote that show. Gentle Giant has a life-size Jumbo Vintage Boba Fett which is pretty cool.

Does look like a join line there...maybe a battery cover though? (looks like LED cannons on the cockpit).
Edit: nope, they're firing missiles, not LED effects.

Here's a pic with the cockpit open. Interestingly, the Inquisitor's TIE also comes in an exclusive pack with a figure...this version seems a little different (red laser cannons):
