3D Printed Replacement At-At Cannons (Endor)

Post by AaroKin »

I brought an At-At (Endor) a while ago off Trade-Me for $25 because it was missing all but one of its cannons.

I looked around for a while to find replacement guns but they were either for the vintage version or people were asking crazy money for them.....sometimes it would have been cheaper to buy an entirely new At-At instead of just the cannons.

Anyway, I decided to just print some and even though they're not perfect they certainly look a lot better than having an empty head.

Hi AaroKin
Snap. Purchased my AT-AT a year ago minus the cannons and have been looking around ever since for a model kit that had something remotely similar that would fit. For interest, where did you get them printed and roughly what price if you don't mind me asking. They look great. - Cheers -

Here are the two I printed out, they both have to be mirrored before printing so you can get one for each side. It cost me $8.50 to print them at my local library so to have guns on my At-At for under $10 is awesome.

The chin cannon can be printed as is....

.....but the cheek gun has to be downsized to 80% it fit a Vintage/Endor At-At.

It took a little clean up to get them to look tidy but 99% of the rough stuff is hidden by the head. I had to use a soldering tool to melt away a channel so the light by the gun didn't hit it.

That's fantastic. Thanks for that info. My first dip into 3D printing.
Just requested a quote from a small local company and will investigate Auckland CBD Library which seems to have the only printers at a library in Auckland.

I also printed out a replacement gun for my At-St....its also not perfect but looks great compared to an empty hole and only cost 50c to print.

It needed a bit of tidying up from the supports that were printed around it and I painted it to as close as I could (be bothered doing haha) to the original.

I know some people have an issue with these repro/3d printed parts but with the originals getting harder to find and so many undeclared fakes on the secondary market it's a great alternative and at least I know for sure what I have.

LOL. Just received the quote from a small company to print the AT-AT canons. Hope you're sitting down. $255 plus GST. I think I will politely decline and visit Auckland CBD library that has the printers.

Apparently they can print in gold. Sent the company a very nice 'Thanks but no thanks' email. No reply to date.

Going to head into the library next week for some ed tutorial.
