Hey everyone, wanted to share a few before & after pics of a Stormy bucket I recently got my hands on.
Owning a HDPE cast helmet has been on my wish list for ages (being as the original stunt lids were cast in this type of plastic) The helmet is from a small batch of 30 made by 'Anon Stormtrooper' using molds with lineage to the original "Set for Stun" helmet seen on A New Hope.
It's beautifully cast, very strong & to my delight it retains lots of bumps & character.
I know it's not to everyone's taste but I love the old archive prop look!
If you're interested in getting on of these lids PM for contact details =)

Thank you good Sir!
I've always liked the idea of of trying to assemble & paint my SW props to look like they are just old costumes on display rather than "real life" characters from the Star Wars universe. I love chips, dings, missing screws, hastily repaired parts & tape holding stuff together !

That is the best bucket in Aotearoa, period.
Nice work, Colin!
(I might need to commission for one!)

Now THAT is a NICE bucket.
I'm one of those who does love the look of the old helmets in all their battered glory. I'd definitely like to own one like it one day.
Very nice detailing for the chipped and peeling paint look. Good job!

Re: 'Anon' made HDPE Stormtrooper helmet paint up
Cheers guys, I appreciate it!
Armante, the chipping process is the most fun part! After a good soapy wash & a light rub down with steel wool I applied a coat of oxide red primer (making sure to get heaps of over spray on the inside of the lid!) Then slapped on 2 coats of white enamel (applied with no care at all so I got loads of runs)
Once the bucket was completed & dry I booted it around my garden & bowled it down my gravel pathway until I was happy with the paint damage

Hahahaha and here's me thinking you're ever so carefully painting on something that will wash off, then painting on the white and carefully removing the masking stuff.
Booting it around the garden - that's no way to treat a bucket!

Hand on heart that's how I did it, then rubbed the helmet all over with news paper to dull the paint finish & add smudges.
