Josh's OGA DLT19 build PIC HEAVY!

Post by joshsurf »

so thought id add a thread in here, as not everyone who is interested in the Swarz are in 501st! So as a kid ive always loved the TKs, and the scene where Han, Luke and Chewie infiltrate the Deathstar. The huge blaster they carry as they escort Chewie I had to have one!
so now thanks to Jon the dream has become a reality! I got lucky and Jon sent me one of his B pulls, nd if this is a B pull, those of you who are getting the A grades are going to be super stoked! Jon as always is a master!

As it is a B grade it had a few issues, air bubbles being the worst at the front of the receiver barrel but a couple of syringes worth of bog filed them up!

the muzzle was the other major repair to make, epoxy putty sorted that one!

once that was done a clean up filler and prime, sand, refill, sand, prime, sand, repeat,ad nauseam....

one thing that ive realizedd is that there isn't a lot of accurate info out there regarding MG34s. Well not as much as say Sterlings and other TK weapons. But through my travels i've seen a mod to make transporting easier by breaking the 2' weapon into 2 more manageable pieces. So i thought that id give this my own slant. My repair job on the receiver wasn't going to be up to the task as bog isnt the most resilient stuff. Got a PVC coupler chopped everything down and glued, added air holes, sanded(again.. :( )

so next step is adding a way to attach the piece of pipe i've bought to the main body! Updates soon......

Very nice to see this, thanks for sharing! I'm down for a second, or B, so it's good to know what I might be getting myself into ;)
Subbing to this, and keen to see more updates, as well as close-up pics - OG's outdone himself on these!

hey thanks! the b grades are, i guess, what you put into them. the lines and the pull is really sharp. its just the hidden air bubbles as the main issue, but i think every one will have their own unique issues. Saying that what i was expecting and what i got far exceeded my expectations.
i worked the receiver end so it was more resilient to having the removable barrel, then sculpted in the holes with a drill and epoxy putty.

so what i decided to do was add a screw in barrel for ease of transportation. went down to mitre 10 to find a few parts. added a male thread to the receiver and female to the barrel.

hey man you're really close on that barrel length I reckon. I should be able to get you a measurement tomorrow when I get my prototype back. The bipod is a great way to check overall length. If you look at this pic the bipod is about 20mm away from the end of the main barrel before it goes into that larger one.

I really like your threaded pvc pipe approach very cool!

Thanks Jon! Yeah I got some measurements and it looked too long so I am going to shorten it down a wee bit more. I'm really close to finishing.

looking great josh nice one man! Good luck with that barrel. 15mm is the correct hole size I believe but I guess 14mm would do too given that all the holes are going to be covered anyway :)

Can't wait to see more pics

Just wondering guys - does a B not normally come with a barrel? Was it missing from Josh's for a reason?

I ask because to go to quite this level might be beyond my abilities and spare time :)

Hey man it's all up for grabs really. If you need a barrel I can organise one no probs. Josh's mg34 was the very first to come out of that mold and I underestimated how much casting material I needed by like just a wee bit so close and yet so far :)

I'm not sure how many seconds I'm going to cast to be honest :0 famous last words right. I'm considering a rawcast option too. Not sure yet but there might be a way to produce a cheaper gun faster that would need a lot more finishing but that wont take me a day or two to make.

Sorry to hijack thread Josh :)
