I'm looking forward to seeing how your helmet progresses.

Hey Phil, I have some high impact polystyrene for you from a job that I am currently on, I will try to stop by tomorrow with the extra brass that I have for you as well.

Future with food colouring? Might be worth a try?

When I'm designing my costumes I try to identify the iconic identifying features of the original then decide whether to incorporate them as is or otherwise represent them. For the x-wing pilot the leg straps certainly fall into the category of iconic features but I've always felt they were pretty dumb, functionless and pointless. Parachute harness leg straps strike me as the likely inspiration for these, so I'm going back to source. Likewise, rather than a flak vest I'm planning on a life vest. As a bonus I'll then have parachute rig and life vest for when I do a WWII pilot (which i'll probably do before the x-wing as i've already got everything else I need for that)

When you factor in the number of needles I smashed I would probably have been better off buying an original vintage. Hard to tell in the photo but the leg pockets are done now. Not sure what to do with the collar: might stuff it to look like the Hoth get up.

Leg flares.

Now for the life vest. Should be interesting as I have no idea how to make a life vest.
